As a young child, I was placed in a county facility for children. It was during this time that I began to discover the works of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci in our trips to the library. Art became a refuge and this is where my love for art began. At the age of 17, I went out on my own. I attended Pasadena City College and while in a work study program, I taught arts and crafts to children. I achieved an Associate of Arts Degree with an Emphasis in Fine Arts. I then attended the University of California at Santa Barbara. I continued to teach art classes as my own professional art career began to develop.

My home and art studio in Santa Barbara County is shared with my wife and home-schooled daughter who we adopted from foster care.

I have had the pleasure of studying with several renowned Santa Barbara artists including Dr. Louis Taylor, Richard Phipps, and Marcia Burtt. More recently, I studied with Linda L. Ging in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My jewelry, sculpture, paintings and mixed media work has been shown in a variety of shows and galleries in the continental United States, Hawaii and the Caribbean which include:

  • Ihilani Resorts, Kapolie, Hawaii
  • Caribbean Castings, St. Johns, Virgin Islands
  • Ojai Center of the Arts, Ojai, California (Second Place - Metals)
  • Beverly Hills Art Affair in the Gardens, Beverly Hills, California
  • Thunderbird Artists, Carefree, Arizona
  • Gallery 113, Santa Barbara, California
  • Indian Wells Art Festival, Palm Desert, California
  • La Jolla Festival of the Arts, La Jolla, California
  • Rancho Mirage Art Affair, Rancho Mirage, California
  • Breckenridge Arts, Breckenridge, Colorado
  • Cincinnati Botanical Gardens, Cincinnati, Ohio (Best in Show)

My emphasis is on releasing the restrictions of form in order to focus on color vibrations in my paintings and mixed media work.

Each piece leads into the next as the challenge to blend the majesty of nature with the wonder of imagination begins again...
